Black Lake

Black Lake

A small lake that serves as a home to rainbow trout and relies on the erratic whims of the Monaro rain Gods. During dry season the water heats up and the fish will big. It has been recorded that rainbows achieved amazing growth rates of up to 5 kg.

Fishing in Black Lake requires big effort because you might easily have gone home empty handed. The lake has extensive shallows that is only suited to small boats. Trolling is the best boating technique often used by anglers to catch fish. Bait fishing from the bank is also effective.

There are no real hotspots in Black Lake, maybe because the lake has a fairly uniform depth. One thing to keep in mind is that, the fish often show up during winter which is considered the perfect time of year to fish.
