Lake Eucumbene - Part Two
Eucumbene river is classified as a 'blue ribbon stream' by the New South
Wales Fisheries Department, meaning the area is strictly for lure and
fly fishing only. Bait fishing is not allowed in the area at any time.
There is no doubt that Lake Eucumbene consistently offers significant
fishing, with plenty of spots to explore and plenty of quality fish to
catch. The lake is more productive in the months of March to June as the
trout, mainly browns gather for their spawning run.
South-east of Snowy Mountain Highway
The area towards Lake Eucumbene are extremely popular and have an
incredible amount of fishing pressure, particularly in autumn and
spring. Down stream is the popular "Suicide Hole' aptly named as large
numbers of fish congregate here prior to spawning.
Is a popular spot in the river surrounded by good quality pools and deep
fish-holding holes. Access to this area is via one of the numerous
unsealed tracks off the highway. Lure fishing is the most common
technique used by many anglers in catching trout.
