Lake Mulwala Part Two

Mulwala is a shallow lake, but it is an ideal place to catch lures and flies for native. The lake produces good quality of fish consistently but it takes a bit of determination and willingness to explore.

Kyffin's Reserve

Good Quality Murray cod is very common in the area. It is also a home to golden perch and other native fish. Most fishes respond well to smaller lures cast on threadlines and light baitcasters, or to flies fished on floating lines.

The Willows

Situated in the Victorian side of Lake Mulwala is an area called the Willows which has been famous in producing good quality Murray Cod. Larger and heavier lures are best to use.

Reed Island

The area around the Reed Island is ideal for using smaller, slow floating lures. Excellent quality of golden perch and Murray cod are found here.

Northern Shallows

This is a large area of shallow water with a wealth of fallen timber and some exceptional cod. The shallows can be fished from the shore, but it is a long walk. The area suit shallow running and high bouyancy lures.

The Bridge

The area is not suited for lure casting. But the area in and around the main bridge that crosses the lake can put on some great fishing. Redfin are consistently caught in this area.
