The Sunshine Coast

A famous region of Brisbane visited by anglers and thousands of tourists per year. The boundless estuary of Caloundra offers an excellent year-round fishing. Mooloolaba boat harbour has the safest port for vessels fishing in the coast, while Noosa is known for the variety of its fishing and international tourist facilities.

Caloundra Estuary

A popular area for boat anglers who land plenty of large bream during the winter months. During the month of September, the best catches for summer sand whiting During can be made at night on the ebb tide.

Bulcock Beach and Golden Beach

The sandspits at Bulcock Beach, where the river meets the sea, is abundant of bream, whiting and tailor. The sandbanks at Golden Beach is popular for having good quality of whiting.

Wickham Point and Point Cartwright

During winter, rock anglers can yield good quality fish here such as; tailor, jewfish, bream, drummer and mackerel.

Bribie Island

A "hot spot" for anglers who want to fish anytime and any season. The holes and gutters of the sandy beach nearby Caloundra has abundant schools of large tailor and jewfish.


The bay is a popular fishing spot in the offshore reef locations of Three Mile Reef, Old Woman Island Black Buoy and Five Mile Reef, where fishermen can yield snapper, pearl perch, cod, sweetlip and mackerel.

Noosa Head

Good quantities of bream, large schools of tailor and big jewfish can be found in the deeply-guttered beaches. Best months to fish are from May to August.

Devil's Kitchen and Fairy Pools

These locations are popular for rock anglers who search for tailor, tarwhine, jewfish, drummer, tuna, trevally, snapper, mackerel and yellowtail kingfish.

Granite Bay

This harbor and the smaller Wicnh Cove is one of the most famous fishing spots at Noosa to take good qualities of bream, dart and tarwhine.

Hell's Gates

A local to find large jewfish and snapper in the steep cliffs dropping sharply into deep water. Good yields takes place at the top and bottom of the tide.

Tea Tree Bay

This bay has a rocky shelf and sandy bay, where you can yield good quality of bream, whiting, flathead, tailor and jewfish.

Noosa River

Offers an excellent fishing, where large dusky flathead, bream, mangrove jack and sand whiting can be taken from several channels, sandbanks and drop-offs in the river.
