Victoria's Western Coast
Western coastline of Victoria is popular with its numerous inlets,
rivers, bays and estuaries that provide the holiday fishermen with the
opportunity and an exciting challenge of taking a huge variety of fish.
The area is famous for big group of Australian salmon, superb snapper
fishing and top game fishing for southern bluefin tuna, yellowtail
kingfish and the sought-after white shark.
The coast at Ocean Grove, Collendina, Black Rock and Fisherman's
Beach provides the surf angler miles of open surf to fish for jewfish,
salmon, snapper and barracouta.
Barwon River and Bream Creek
Estuary fishing here will provide good yields of luderick, silver
trevally, mullet, flathead, salmon and jewfish.
Is a sloping beach with deep gutters, having renowned for its large
specimens of jewfish, salmon, snapper and gummy shark. This is one of
the best surf fishing coastline in the region.
In the Point Roadknight region, surf fishing will produce snapper,
salmon and gummy sharks. The Anglesea River is also a good spot to fish
for southern bream and, a few kilometres on at Airey's Inlet, bream,
luderick and mullet are the constant catches.
Fairhaven and Eastern View
The shoreline in this region at the start of the Great Ocean Road
provides top surf fishing. The main catches include salmon, snapper,
jewfish and gummy sharks.
The beaches, rocks and pier at Lorne are all famous holiday fishing
locations. The regular catches here are salmon, flathead, snapper,
barracouta, silver trevally and sweep. The large garfish are often
productive in the winter and bream can be yielded from the estuary of
the Erskine River.
Offers a superb breakwater, surf and pier fishing for bream, salmon,
snapper, mullet, yellowtail , trevally, kingfish and barracouta. The
local hot locations for good stock of bream are at the Barwon River and
the beach at Marengo.
This is an isolated region which offers a superb fishing for jewfish,
gummy sharks, snapper and salmon in its dirt roads and bush tracks.
Close to the Aire River provides good fishing for a number of estuary
species including the southern bream.
This spectacular hollow coastline is almost inaccessible. Good
fishing for cod, snapper and salmon is done from high rock ledges. The
coastline in the region are good spots for snapper and salmon while the
estuary of the Sherbrooke River and pier fishing takes salmon and
