Westernport Bay to Lake Entrance
This place is only good for a well-skilled boatman as the place always
encounters strong winds. Westernport Bay is sheltered and is abundant
with salmon, whiting, garfish, salmon, snapper, flathead, trevally, and
mullet. It is considered best whiting ground.
Sometimes, yellowtail kingfish and tuna also appear in the bay. Cape
Schanck is a good place for rock fishing but the waves could be
dangerous. On the northern shore of the bay is Tooradin, which has good
mullet, bream, whiting and salmon-trout.
A place called Waratah Bay that has a wonderful surf beach has been
known to yield big mulloways, trevally and salmon. The Tarwin River is
also known to produce bream and bass but from the shore and the pier,
mullets, salmon and whiting can be caught with
ease. The Ninety-Nine Beach has a lot of species of fish that are
present but would take all your courage because the wind is very strong
here. Tailor, snapper, trevally, salmon, mullet and sharks are found
For the beach-caters the most popular part in this bay would be Seaspray,
Paradise beaches, Woodside and Golden. Facilities are available at the
Lakes Entrance including launch trips.
